Mark your calendars. March 3-5 the Avalaunch-ers will be at SMX West in San Jose California!
This event will be particularly exciting for me as this is my first time speaking at SMX West! Hopefully it won’t be my last… If people like MacGyver then they’ll love my presentation. He may or may not be making an appearance in my Pay Per Click presentation with a Paper Clip. Get it? Matt Siltala and his infamous bearded TwitterAccounts will also be showing up.
In short we’ll be rocking it.
My session will be power-packed (cuz of the other guys!) as I’m speaking Tim Ash and Soren Ryherd on the panel “Actionable Insights & Conversion Tactics for SEMs”.
Just wanted to drop a quick note that talks about what is going on this week. I will be speaking at the SMX Advanced Local U Workshop on Thursday June 7th in the beautiful city of Seattle. I love local, and especially am excited to be speaking with all my buds that are presenting that day. It is an honor to be included in the amazing line up.
I will be speaking on Siri Optimization and “Checking In” (SoLoMo style) during the “Not Google Places” panel. I have put together some pretty good case studies, examples and real world take-aways. Look forward to sharing this info and hoping people walking away with some great information and ideas.

I spent the better part of this week in Seattle for SMX Advanced 2010 and got to see a lot of my old friends, and meet new awesome ones. Conferences are always awesome, but SMX Advanced is even more special to me because of relationships made at a past one I attended (hat tip Cameron). I feel it brings huge opportunity for those who attend & speak – if, and I say IF …. they are smart and think outside of the box. There was one such individual that did think outside the box this year and impressed me. His name is Thomas Ballantyne he owns Blog Pest Control & he made me a shirt! Its been done before you say? Maybe, but never like this before – HIS TWIST? He really enjoyed something I had said on Twitter, and ended up making me a shirt with that specific “tweet” (see below)
So thinking outside the box is going to get Thomas known, get him links (from posts like this) and do a great job at establishing his name in our industry. Again, I thought it was brilliant and wanted to give him some props. I know that he made shirts for a few others too, and also gave out some regular ones, but again – hat tip Thomas! (and thanks again for the shirt) I would love to have Thomas (if he sees this, which I am sure he will) share some more and how he made out after doing all this? Even cooler? I found out he lives a few miles away from me in the Phoenix area. Lunch?
So think outside the box like Thomas, and do something that will make people talk about you and remember you! SMX Advanced 2010 was a blast and I am so glad I had the opportunity to speak, enjoy old friends and make new ones!
I am really looking forward to SMX Advanced this year for many reasons, but the biggest this year is being able to hang out with some of the most awesome friends on the planet. Another reason is because I am on a pretty kick butt panel with some amazing fellas called “Location Services: The new local search?”
I look forward to seeing you all there, please make sure and come up and say hi! Some of the best friends I have in this industry came about by going up and saying hi! Some of the best info I have gotten out of other speakers was when we were hanging out, chilling in a bar or eating dinner!
How about this for a headline: Matt McGee, an Arizona Cardinals fan?
Matt McGee, a great friend of mine was such an awesome sport about this. Ok, maybe he was a little upset at himself for making this bet (The Arizona Cardinals would get further in the 2009 season than the Seahawks), but we had fun with it. To show my appreciation to Matt I wanted to make sure and post the pics for ALL to see. Here ya go Matt:
